Severn Trent Water to display £11m Gloucester plans
It is hoped the 12-month scheme will reduce flooding in the city during storm conditions, with work planned to begin in mid-September.
Wayne Trellis of the water company commented: “The problems that can be caused by heavy rain became particularly apparent during the summer floods of 2007, and Severn Trent has been working hard to develop a solution.”
As part of the project, one kilometre of new sewer pipe will be laid in the city centre, which is expected to cause some disruption but yield long-term benefits for residents of Gloucester.
Earlier this month, Severn Trent Water said it is continuing to face difficulty in providing 130 litres of water every day for each customer in its region, as reservoir levels continue to be in the doldrums.
